With two new islands — Kau Sai Chau and High Island — and a series of new artworks, there is just so much to see at this year’s Sai Kung Hoi Arts Festival! Follow us on an island-hopping journey by kaito to view amazing artworks🖼️ and enjoy the sky, waves, bay and land of Sai Kung Hoi from new angles⛅ — you may even discover some Insta-worthy spots!

☀️ Our Celestial Commons: The HKU Village Commons Team
The creative team took photos of the fishermen of Kau Sai Village and turned them into a colourful, semi-transparent canopy. The result is a priceless collection of the villagers’ memories — something that’s not only Instagrammable but also worth taking time to appreciate.

🌊The Weaving Waves Pavilion: Su Chang, Sherman Lam and Andie Lam
Combining fishing nets and galvanised steel rings inspired by the fishing history of Kau Sai Village, the pavilion tells stories of the land and the water, between the Hakka people and the Tanka people, and between the space within and beyond the island.

🏞️ Rhythmic LANE: Fragrant Village, Napp Studio & Architects
The familiar sounds of villages are integrated into this art installation in a deserted school playground. Roll the wooden orbs and listen for the collective memory of the community.

🌴One-Sixth Land: Sammy Chow, Ceci Yiu
This artwork features pillars inspired by the famous hexagonal rock columns of High Island. Some of them are adorned with colourful ropes that represent the island’s Tin Hau Temple, while others use mirrors to reflect the natural surroundings of the island. Try to view the work from a distance and up-close; you’ll get a very different experience!

Apart from the Island Hopping Kaito Experience, which makes it extra easy to appreciate each island’s scenic beauty and the 18 art installations, don’t miss the free public activities such as workshops, performances and seminars during the festival! For more details, visit https://bit.ly/3MNz58P

Sai Kung Hoi Arts Festival 2023
📅15 November 2023 to 14 January 2024
