The week we missed-Todd and Jer- Trump town hall-Aoc and Gaetz team up

Fallout from former President Donald Trump’s CNN town hall continued on Thursday, with some Republicans taking issue with Trump’s comments on Ukraine.

During the event, Trump declined to say whether he would like to see Russia or Ukraine win the war, and he refused to say Russian President Vladimir Putin is a war criminal. That drew criticism from some Senate Republicans, NBC News’ Liz Brown-Kaiser, Garrett Haake and Dareh Gregorian report.

An unlikely mix of lawmakers spanning MAGA Republicans and democratic socialists is joining forces in hopes of finally keeping fellow members of Congress from being able to trade stocks.

The team includes two Republican representatives: Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, one of the House’s most bipartisan members, and Matt Gaetz of Florida, who is among its most far-right. They introduced the Bipartisan Restoring Faith in Government Act on Tuesday along with two colleagues across the aisle: pro-business New Democrat centrist Raja Krishnamoorthi of Illinois and Democratic Socialists of America member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York.

The week we missed - Who Was Behind the Attack on Russia's Nord Stream Pipelines?

Welcome to "The Week We Missed," the podcast where we catch you up on the biggest news stories you might have missed over the past seven days. I'm Jer, and as always, I'm joined by my co-host Todd

This week, we're discussing a story that has stumped investigators on both sides of the Atlantic for months. According to new intelligence reviewed by U.S. officials, a pro-Ukrainian group may have been responsible for the attack on the Nord Stream pipelines last year. The attack, which links Russia to Western Europe, has been a major mystery in Russia's year-old war in Ukraine.

While there is no evidence that President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine or his top lieutenants were involved, Ukraine and its allies have been seen as having the most logical potential motive to attack the pipelines. This is because they have opposed the project for years, calling it a national security threat.

However, Ukrainian government and military intelligence officials deny any involvement and claim to have no knowledge of who carried out the attack. So, who are the perpetrators, and who directed or paid for the operation?

They then delve into the main topic of discussion, which is the recent events related to impending riots. The conversation then turns to the role of the media in reporting the events, and the host offers their opinion on whether the media was trying to instigate the riots or not

we discuss the existence of spy balloons that have been floating over the United States for years. Despite the balloons being widely known, no action was taken by previous administrations, including Trump and Obama. The balloons were not directly over the states, but rather close by, about 10 miles off. It was mentioned to Trump by Obama, but nothing was done. It's not a reason to criticize President Biden for not taking action as it makes sense not to shoot a balloon above potentially populated areas.

The week we missed- Todd and Jer- Kanye Cancelled and LA Racist City Council

Certain corners of the internet and media would have us believe that famous people are being cancelled on a daily basis. That the relentless march towards “woke” has left so many well-known people shunned that the whole celebrity ecosystem is in danger of collapsing.

This is not true. As Irish comedian and talk show host Graham Norton so succinctly pointed out at the recent Cheltenham Literature Festival: “You read a lot of articles in papers by people complaining about ‘cancel culture'. You think, in what world are you cancelled? I’m reading your name in a newspaper, or you’re doing an interview about how terrible it is to be cancelled.”

Cancellation has proven to be largely a myth, a buzzword, which, as with garnering likes and online support when hashtagged in social media soundbites, is rarely reflected in real life.

Some of this explains why, despite years of making damaging, abusive and threatening public statements and false allegations, Kanye West manages to shake off the fallout of his actions as though he is coated in Teflon.

Over the past few weeks, West, who now goes by the name Ye, has posted anti-Semitic messages on social media; accused his estranged mother-in-law Kris Jenner of having an affair with Canadian rapper Drake; worn a White Lives Matter T-shirt at his Paris Fashion Week show; sat down for an interview with Fox News’s right-wing host Tucker Carlson that later made headlines thanks to outtakes of West floating a series of conspiracy theories; and said George Floyd, whose death at the hands of police officers in May 2020 galvanised the Black Lives Matter movement, actually "died from fentanyl”.

The week we missed- Todd and Jer- Good news, Pandemic is over!!

President Joe Biden has declared the pandemic over in the US, even as the number of Americans who have died from Covid continues to rise.

"We're still doing a lot of work on it. But the pandemic is over," said Mr Biden in a television interview.

Statistics show that over 400 Americans on average are dying from the virus each day.

The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) said last week that the end of the pandemic was "in sight".

In an interview with CBS programme 60 Minutes aired on Sunday, Mr Biden said the situation was rapidly improving, even though a lot of work was being done to control the virus.

The interview - aired over the weekend - was partly filmed on the floor of the Detroit Auto Show, where the president gestured towards the crowds.

"If you notice, no-one's wearing masks," he said. "Everybody seems to be in pretty good shape... I think it's changing."

But administration officials told US media on Monday that the comments did not signal a change in policy and there were no plans to lift the ongoing Covid-19 public health emergency.

In August, US officials extended the public health emergency, which has been in place since January 2020, through to 13 October.

To date, more than one million Americans have died with Covid.

The week we missed- Todd and Jer - Bidens Speech and Free College

It is a big advantage for Joe Biden that no one takes him seriously. He spent Labor Day continuing to express animosity toward “MAGA Republicans,” and one’s instinct is to write this off as Joe rousing his party’s base for the midterm elections. It’s much more than that.  This isn’t just Joe or a blowhard Senate majority leader’s pro forma raking of the other side. No matter how feckless one thinks the occupant of the White House is, an American head of state has extraordinary powers to intimidate, investigate and, if desired, prosecute. The power of this office is incomparable. It is a mistake not to take Mr. Biden’s MAGA speeches seriously, no matter how intemperate

The week We missed- Trump Raided!!

Bobb, confirming an account that she first recounted to The Washington Post, told NBC News that lawyers for Trump were talking to Justice Department officials this spring about the records being stored at Mar-a-Lago.

At one meeting, she said, Trump’s lawyers searched through between two and three dozen boxes in a storage area and gave Justice Department officials “a few pages” that could meet the definition of being a presidential record.

Bobb told NBC News that at one meeting on June 3, she and another Trump lawyer were talking with a senior Justice Department official at Mar-a-Lago when Trump stopped by briefly to say hello.

At that meeting, a source close to Trump told NBC New, Trump personally showed the Justice Department official the room where the materials were.

Bobb said Trump officials added a lock on a storage unit after Justice officials said they did not believe it was secure. That lock was broken during the FBI search on Monday, she told NBC.

Trump’s spokesman Taylor Budowich in a new statement issued Tuesday, blasted the FBI search.

“Monday’s brazen raid was not just unprecedented, it was completely unnecessary,” Budowich said. “President Trump and his representatives have gone to painstaking lengths in communicating and cooperating with the appropriate agencies — something that is routine for all similar instances.”

The week you missed- Todd and Jer- Hunter Biden Crack Chronicles and Cern

The Secret Service confirmed Monday that it is aware of reports that the contents of Hunter Biden’s iCloud account were hacked over the weekend, exposing alleged texts, pictures, and videos of the president’s son doing drugs and engaging in other salacious and likely illegal activities.

4chan users claimed they hacked Biden’s phone late Saturday night, posting pictures to the website’s main political forum, according to the Washington Examiner. Many of the posts were taken down by the website.

The Secret Service said they are “aware” of the “social media posts and claims” about Biden, but are not in position to “make public comments on potential investigative actions,” in a statement to National Review.

One video purports to show Biden measuring the amount of crack he had while in conversation with a prostitute.

Another alleged video shows Biden going down a water slide naked, and texts allegedly revealed show Biden claiming that President Joe Biden was in possession of five guns in 2019, despite campaigning on gun control.

Many of the files posted by 4chan were already found on Biden’s abandoned laptop via an iPhone XS backup, according to the Washington Examiner.

Former Secret Service agent and cyber forensics expert Konstantinos “Gus” Dimitrelos previously told the outlet that the contents of the iPhone are authentic.

“Based on my analysis of the iPhone, I conclude the same results as my analysis of the MacBook Pro Laptop hard drive and iCloud synced data. The person who owns and operates this iPhone XS is Robert Hunter Biden,” Dimitrelos said, according to the outlet.

The abandoned laptop also previously revealed that the president knew about his son’s business dealing with China, despite repeatedly claiming that he has “never spoken” to him “about his overseas business dealings.”

Joe Biden left a voicemail on Hunter Biden’s phone after a New York Times released a story in 2018 about the first son’s business dealings with the Chinese oil giant China Energy Company Limited (CEFC), the Daily Mail first reported.

Abortion is the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus within a pregnancy. The embryo or fetus is found in the womb and a miscarriage occurs when it spontaneously leaves on its own. Women who seek to terminate their pregnancy can face many obstacles, including finding a facility that offers abortion services and raising money for the procedure.

The week we missed- todd and jer- economy tanking- supreme court assassination

Stocks sank on Friday, ending what has been a miserable month for markets, especially for Big Tech.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost nearly 1,000 points, while the S&P 500 lost more than 3%, with both indexes posting hefty losses for April.

But it was a lot worse for the tech-heavy Nasdaq, which sank more than 4% on Friday and ended down more than 10% for April, its worst month since 2008.

The deep declines reflect a time of deep uncertainty at a moment when the economic landscape is changing rapidly.

Here are the top three things sinking Wall Street.

Big Tech is going from winner to loser

The pandemic was good for Big Tech earnings.

Buoyed by low interest rates and the sudden pivot to quarantines and remote work, companies from Netflix to Zoom had some banner months in terms of profits.

And what is good for Big Tech is generally good for markets given that information technology companies account for 28 percent of the S&P 500.

But things have changed — and swiftly.

The world is learning to live with COVID. Workers are returning to their offices. Demand for travel is booming. And restaurants are filling up again.

A California man accused of attempting to assassinate Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh was formally charged Wednesday.

A federal grand jury returned an indictment charging 26-year-old Nicholas John Roske with attempting to murder a Justice of the United States.

According to court documents, Roske traveled from his home in Simi Valley, California to Maryland intending to kill Justice Kavanaugh, arriving at his residence in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 8, 2022.

On May 24, 2022, 18-year-old Salvador Ramos fatally shot nineteen students and two teachers, and wounded seventeen others at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Earlier that day, Ramos had shot his grandmother in the face, severely wounding her. After firing shots outside the school for approximately five minutes,[5] he entered Robb Elementary School armed with an AR-15 style rifle and handgun through a propped open side entrance, left open by a teacher, without encountering armed resistance.[6][7] Ramos locked himself inside a classroom where all his victims were killed and remained there for about one hour before being killed by a United States Border Patrol tactical team.[8] It is the third-deadliest American school shooting, after the Virginia Tech shooting in 2007 and the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012, and the deadliest ever in the state of Texas

Most workers who say their job responsibilities can mainly be done from home say that, before the pandemic, they rarely or never teleworked. Only one-in-five say they worked from home all or most of the time. Now, 71% of those workers are doing their job from home all or most of the time. And more than half say, given a choice, they would want to keep working from home even after the pandemic, according to a new Pew Research Center survey

The Pandemic`s Impact on Education

While countries are at different points in their COVID-19 infection rates, worldwide there are currently more than 1.2 billion children in 186 countries affected by school closures due to the pandemic. In Denmark, children up to the age of 11 are returning to nurseries and schools after initially closing on 12 March, but in South Korea students are responding to roll calls from their teachers online

The COVID-19 has resulted in schools shut all across the world. Globally, over 1.2 billion children are out of the classroom.

As a result, education has changed dramatically, with the distinctive rise of e-learning, whereby teaching is undertaken remotely and on digital platforms.

Research suggests that online learning has been shown to increase retention of information, and take less time, meaning the changes coronavirus have caused might be here to stay

However other countries and their authorities (such as the United States Department of State, Global Affairs Canada, etc.), international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) including Human Rights in China and Amnesty International, and citizens, lawyers, and dissidents inside the country, state that the authorities in mainland China regularly sanction or organize such abuses.

Miggy and Mar- w/ Russell Korus- EzNFT

WHAT IS AN NFT? WHAT DOES NFT STAND FOR?

Non-fungible token.

That doesn’t make it any clearer.

Right, sorry. “Non-fungible” more or less means that it’s unique and can’t be replaced with something else. For example, a bitcoin is fungible — trade one for another bitcoin, and you’ll have exactly the same thing. A one-of-a-kind trading card, however, is non-fungible. If you traded it for a different card, you’d have something completely different. You gave up a Squirtle, and got a 1909 T206 Honus Wagner, which StadiumTalk calls “the Mona Lisa of baseball cards.” (I’ll take their word for it.)

How do NFTs work?

At a very high level, most NFTs are part of the Ethereum blockchain. Ethereum is a cryptocurrency, like bitcoin or dogecoin, but its blockchain also supports these NFTs, which store extra information that makes them work differently from, say, an ETH coin. It is worth noting that other blockchains can implement their own versions of NFTs. (Some already have.)

A mounting crisis is unfolding at the U.S.-Mexico border where thousands of migrants, many from Haiti, have trekked across dozens of countries, facing blistering heat and other dangers to seek refuge in the United States.

The core argument here is that NFTs are just another kind of collectible that lacks the physical component of a baseball card or a Picasso. This is pretty obvious, since many of the early NFTs were artworks like Beeple’s (an artist I quite like) and Grimes (I dug Art Angels). And sure, I can understand this, but even if we make the 1-1 connection between Art and NFT, there are still some pretty big holes in this argument that need to be patched

And if the eight years of the Bush Presidency proved anything, it's that there is no better way to leave a legacy than by withdrawing from a war.

Whether you want to admit it or not, the American involvement in Afghanistan is going badly. As Iraq showed, nothing can be concluded from a single skirmish – the famous routing of the Taliban by Gen. Rashid Dostum near Mazar-i-Sharif – but this doesn't look like a one-off. If there were ever a good reason for a US withdrawal from Afghanistan, now would be it.

The Different Kind Of Therapy - Jer and Dan Podcast

Therapy is a wonderful method of dealing with personal issues. It can provide you with the tools and knowledge to deal with life's challenges in a healthy and beneficial way. It really doesn't matter if you feel like you need extreme mental treatment or just someone to talk to about whatever troubles you, there are plenty of options out there for you,

If you find yourself wanting to work on a challenge that requires you to deal with it right away, generally there’s not enough time for your brain to convince you that waiting is better. Or it might be that you blank out at the thought of dealing with this thing right now. Under those conditions, trying out different kinds of “therapy” can help you move forward toward a place where you can deal with this challenge head-on and have a better, more lasting response than avoidance or denial ever could provide.

Microdosing: What You Need To Know - Jer and Dan Podcast

Microdosing is one of the most intriguing new trends in the home remedies industry. Microdosing involves taking small doses of certain substances like psychedelics, smart drugs, and other legal drugs in order to produce a heightened state of consciousness and physical benefits.

Microdosing is the newest trend in psychedelics, and it’s one that has taken the internet by storm. It’s a way to experiment with mind-altering substances ― without altering your state of consciousness or having a psychedelic experience. A microdose is defined as 10-20% of the normal dose required for that substance, providing a vastly different effect than if you were simply dosed higher.

Why Republicans Suck? Jer and Todd Podcast

Just kidding! But to be fair, we should probably post this as "Why Democrats Suck". The real problem, of course, is that the Democrats suck and the Republicans suck. It's really a toss-up. People are people, and politicians are all sociopathic. The only difference is that sociopaths usually aren't in politics, or if they are in politics they aren't sociopaths yet (which I actually have to say is probably even scarier).

Role Of The Government In Our Daily Lives - Jer and Pat Podcast

When does the government have a role in our daily lives? There is a difference between the role of government and “the government”. People generally understand (or at least claim to) that the function of government, at its most basic level, is to protect it’s citizens from foreign invaders (or our own internal ones), and ensure basic protections for all members of society. However, there are those who insist that “government intervention” is at the root of many of the problems in our society today.
