Chinese Property Giant Evergrande to Wind-Up in Biggest Liquidation, Hong Kong Court Orders
A Hong Kong court has ordered troubled Chinese property developer Evergrande to liquidate after it failed to come up with a debt restructuring plan. The judge overseeing the case said “enough is enough” for the embattled firm which has been struggling for over two years. In 2021, Evergrande ran out of cash and defaulted on its debts and has ever since become the poster child of China’s property market turmoil. The liquidation is likely to further send ripples through financial markets.
