Mayhem broke out at the University of California as anti-Israel protesters and LAPD officers clashed on Thursday.
According to the New York Post, over 200 protesters were arrested for resisting “orders to disperse” from the UCLA campus grounds.
UCLA Chancellor Gene Block released a statement following the encampment shut down by LAPD officers.
“To preserve campus safety and the continuity of our mission, early this morning, we made the decision to direct UCPD and outside law enforcement officers to enter and clear the encampment,” he said.
As LAPD and California Highway Patrol officers moved in on the encampment, the protesters threw objects and used a fire extinguisher on law enforcement officers.
