We've been to the Gold Coast a handful of times and already knew there were some epic things to do! The beaches are next level, the them parks are awesome and obviously Surfers Paradise is a real drawcard as well... but this time we were tasked with something different entirely. Just how special is the Gold Coast beyond Surfers Paradise?
In short it's legitimately bloody awesome. Like we haven't stopped looking at moving there since we left and we miss it already. The Gold Coast is a dream - the weather, the people, the food, the coffee, the things to do, the lifestyle, it's goals. - Within minutes of landing we were already at the beach in Coolangatta - it's all about the beach, surfing, amazing restaurants, and a slower pace with a down-to-earth vibe. First stop was Kool Bike Hire to cruise the coast and check out the beaches.
- Then on to Paddock Bakery which is 25 minutes down the road in Burleigh Heads, famous for their wood-fired bagels, crème brulee donuts and dippy eggs! The start of an incredible time with food and cafe experiences on this trip!
- The Dorsett Gold Coast was our home during the stay and it was modern, close to the beach, casino and shopping and with an epic pool as well.
- Tarte Beach House in Currumbin was delicious and the best coffee we had on the whole trip!
- Jellurgal Walkabout was so interesting, the more we travel the more we love feeling connected to our experiences and understanding the aboriginal connection is key.
- Burleigh Pavilion is a vibe for sure, great cocktails, seafood and views over the beach. Apparently some pretty cool gigs here too.
- If you've ever wanted to learn how to ski, wakeboard or kneeboard then GC Wake Park is the spot. Well setup so that even if you're not getting involved on the water it's still a good place to hang, listen to the music and grab some food/drink
- The Hinterland is a must! Cedar Creek Lodges caters to all sorts of different budgets as well, even down to camping if that's your thing, super family friendly with the activities on site but lots of space for adults to hang too
- Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk is another must and honestly a good time to slow down a bit, breath and take in the rainforest surroundings
- St Bernard’s Hotel to finish was a treat! Insane views, friendly staff, great food and DOGS.
So is the Gold Coast a winner even outside of Surfers? HELL YES!
