お盆に迎えた先祖の霊を送る五山送り火が2023年8月16日の夜、京都市内の各山であった。台風一過の夜空に文字や形が浮かび、見守った人たちが故人をしのんだ。
京都府警によると、この日の送り火の人出は2万5600人で、3年ぶりに全面点火された昨年を約5千人上回った。鴨川と高野川が合流する「鴨川デルタ」の河川敷は台風による増水で立ち入りが禁止された。

On the night of August 16, 2023, Gozan Okuribi was held at each mountain in Kyoto City to send the spirits of ancestors who welcomed the Obon festival. Letters and shapes appeared in the night sky after the typhoon passed, and the people who watched them remembered the deceased.
