In the fall of 2023, Nagasaki hibakusha(survivres from the atomic bomb) set out on a tour across the United States. The film "Oppenheimer," which depicts the developers of nuclear weapons, was just being released in the United States.
In the U.S., where the acceptance of nuclear weapons is deeply rooted, we wondered whether the Hibakusha's words would reach the American audience.
Shizuko Mitamura is one of them. She was exposed to the bomb when she was a child. Aftre the war, she lost her daughter to cancer at a young age. She shared her experience at a high school in the U.S..However, the audience didn't listen carefully.
