It seems that Boris Johnson and Liz Truss rushed the Australia trade deal because they thought it would help us join the Pacific trading bloc, the CPTPP. Unfortunately, the agreement was stacked so heavily in Australia's favour, that other members want more concessions in their own negotiations now. What was intended to smooth our accession seems to be doing the opposite.
